Baseball: Bartlett holds off Streamwood in postseason opener

Streamwood pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh Monday, but it wasn’t enough as Bartlett hung on for a 4-3 victory on its home field in the opening game of the Class 4A Lake Park Regional.

Burlington Central’s Autumn Conn took second in the Class 2A pole vault with a leap of 12 feet. The Alabama recruit tied with Bloomington Central Catholic’s Sarah Bell, who also vaulted 12-0 and was awarded the state title on less misses.

Boys Track: Bartlett wins first sectional crown

As the Class 3A St. Charles North Sectional track meet concluded Friday night, state qualifiers from Elgin School District U-46 teams all posed together for parents to take a group photo. They really needed a wide-angle lens for this one, as U-46 athletes turned back the clock to a time when they were dominant in sprints all over the track. They earned 14 state meet berths total. Of course, it helped having the powerhouse of the meet within their district — the Bartlett Hawks — the sectional champs.
