Baseball: St. Charles North lands four on All-UEC River team

St. Charles North was well represented on the All-Upstate Eight River baseball team, which was announced last week.
The North Stars had four players named to the team, with senior infielder John Brodner leading the contingent with his second straight all-conference selection. Senior pitcher Jake Johansmeier, senior center fielder Brandon Drawant and senior pitcher Carl Formento also landed the honor.
St. Charles East, which won the UEC River title, had three players recognized as senior pitcher Kyle Manske, junior outfielder Joe Hoscheit and junior shortstop Nick Erickson all garnered an all-conference nod.
Streamwood senior shortstop Richie Gorski returned to the All-UEC River team for the second year in a row as the only representative for the Sabres. Elgin senior pitcher Alex Doty and Larkin senior shortstop Pete Lennard were the lone all-conference honorees for their respective teams.
• Bartlett and South Elgin both had two players named to the All-UEC Valley squad.
The Storm was represented by junior pitcher David Palmer and senior outfielder Andrew Weedman. Junior pitcher Colin Nowak and senior third baseman Dan Gallanis were the honorees for the Hawks.
Neuqua Valley, which won the UEC Valley title, led all teams with five representatives.
Warriors place four on All-NAC first team
In the wake of its Northeastern Athletic championship season, Westminster Christian had eight players recognized on the All-NAC team.
Seniors Ryan Perez, Dylan Scully, Tyler Greene and Zack Edwards all landed first-team honors. Sophomore Clay DeHaan and junior Will Woodhouse were named to the second team and freshmen Chase Woods and Luke Weston both garnered an honorable mention.
