MEGHAN NISKI, St. Charles East
A 5-foot-11 senior outside hitter who played for state’s third-place team as a senior and state champs as a freshman is Courier-News Player of the Year. Unanimous All-Upstate Eight Conference River Division choice and Sun-Times first team All-Area player who made 418 kills, 207 digs, 48 blocks and 29 aces.
NICOLE LAMBERT, St. Charles East
A 6-foot-1 Radford-bound senior middle hitter, was named a unanimous choice for the All-Upstate Eight River Division team. Made 231 kills and 103 blocks for the state’s third-place Class 4A team. Had single match highs of 11 kills and nine blocks.
MAISEY MULVEY, St. Charles East
Senior 5-foot-8 libero for the state’s third-place team, named All-Upstate Eight Conference River Division. Produced 313 digs, including a single-match high of 20. Also had 36 aces and 24 assists for UEC River championship team that finished 35-7.
SAM BOESCH, Huntley
A 5-foot-11 senior outside hitter with all-around skills, she produced 430 kills, 257 digs, 29 blocks and 26 aces. An All-Fox Valley Valley Division team member, she had 859 kills, 61 blocks, 521 digs and 46 aces in her career and will play at Wake Forest next year.
AMY DION, Huntley
A 5-foot-5 senior libero, this Maryland recruit was named All-Fox Valley Valley Division. Led the area with 543 digs while also making 69 assists, 31 kills and 43 aces. For her career, she had 1,875 digs, 176 aces, 156 assists and 174 kills.
JAINA JACKSON, Huntley
A 6-foot-1 senior middle blocker, she was named All-Fox Valley Valley Division. She finished with 210 kills, 44 blocks and 89 digs while serving 31 aces for a regional champion team. For her career, she had 394 kills, 144 blocks, 152 digs and 65 aces.
ALYSSA EHRHARDT, Jacobs
Versatile junior 5-10 outside hitter who was named All-Fox Valley Valley Division. Made an area-high 72 aces while also producing 370 kills and 220 digs. Finished with a 38.9-percent kill ratio and team-high 2.16 passer rating on a 3.0 scale.
MARIS SMITH, Jacobs
Junior 5-foot-7, high-flying outside hitter who displayed great versatility with 182 kills and a 34-percent kill percentage, as well as 43 aces and 45 digs for a Jacobs team that finished the season 24-12.
KATIE AYELLO, St. Edward
A senior 5-foot-6 setter, was chosen Suburban Christian Gold Division Player of the Year. Had 563 assists, 27 aces, 20 kills and 171 digs for Class 2A regional champion Green Wave despite playing several weeks with broken bones in her hand. Finished with 949 career digs.
SAMANTHA BOHNE, Burlington Central
Senior 5-foot-7 libero who committed only eight errors in 324 attempts at serve receive, while making 424 digs. She also produced 36 aces in 258 serves. Named to the All-Big Northern East squad. Helped lead Central to a 21-15 record.
KELLY MEATHE, Hampshire
A 5-foot-2 senior libero who made All-Fox Valley Fox Division in her school’s first season in the conference. She made 382 digs and during a match against Zion-Benton set a school single-match record by recording 36 digs. Also served up 52 aces.
KIM JURIGA, St. Charles North
A 6-foot-1 senior right side, she was a versatile performer for a Class 4A regional champion team that finished 22-11. Made a team-high 197 kills and made all-tournament teams at the Wheaton Classic, Plainfield North Invitational and Minooka Tournament.
JILL STOLZENBURG, St. Charles North
A 6-foot middle blocker, had team-high totals of 43 blocks 29 aces. Was second in kills with 165. Made two all-tournament teams and was named unanimous All-Upstate Eight River Division. Will play collegiately at St. Leo University in Florida next year.
LIZ SIMONELLI, Streamwood
An All-Upstate Eight River Division choice for the second straight year, this 5-foot-2 libero had 317 digs and 328 serve receptions. She finished with 28 aces serving and also had 36 kills. Team MVP and team captain as a senior and as a junior.
