Roundup: Burlington Central advances to state

Burlington Central’s boys golf team punched its ticket to the state finals with a second-place finish at the Class 2A Freeport Sectional on Monday.

Matt Weber fired a 74 to lead the way for the Rockets, who finished with a team score of 317, which was second to Rockford Boylan’s 310. Austin Niesel (80), Andrew Sherman (81) and Joe Sherman (82) also counted scores for Burlington Central.

Class 1A Byron Sectional: Westminster Christian’s Connor Rejman shot an 80 and Elgin Academy’s Frankie Bisconti shot an 81 to earn a trip to the state finals.


Class 1A Freeport Aquin Sectional: St. Edward’s Ryann Scully advanced to the state finals as an individual after shooing a 93 at the sectional.
