Roundup: St. Edward volleyball nets victory

Mallory Gross amassed five kills and 20 assists to lead St. Edward to a 25-27, 25-16, 25-20 volleyball victory over Guerin on Wednesday in Suburban Christian action.

The Green Wave (8-9, 3-2) was also led by Katie Swanson (10 digs, 11 kills), Rena Ranallo (eight kills), Shannon Igielski (nine kills) and Allison Kruk (15 digs).

BOYS GOLF

St. Edward 176, Elgin Academy 184

St. Edward’s Dan Winters and EA’s Andrew Dykun shot 40 to share medalist honors at Bowes Creek.

St. Charles North third in UEC quad

St. Charles North’s Dan Shepherd shot 37 and earned medalist honors at White Eagle but the North Stars’ 163 total was third behind Waubonsie Valley (159) and Neuqua Valley (165). St. Charles East (170), led by Keone Derain’s 40, was last.

Burlington Central second in triangular

Andrew Sherman shot a 40 to pace Burlington Central in a Big Northern East triangular against Richmond-Burton and North Boone. Burlington Central’s team score of 176 was second behind Richmond-Burton’s 173.

Northridge Prep 180, Westminster Christian 188

Connor Rejman shot a 41 to pace the Warriors in a nonconference match at Golf Club of Illinois.

GIRLS TENNIS

Elgin Academy drops three

The Hilltoppers lost to Hampshire 4-1, lost to Elgin High 3-2 and lost to South Elgin 5-0 in a nonconference quad. Emma May won at No. 2 singles for Elgin Academy in the matches against the Whip-Purs and the Maroons.

In the match against Hampshire, the Whip-Purs got a win at No. 1 singles from Hannah Hougland. Against Elgin, Dahlia Keonavongsa won at No. 1 singles for the Maroons. South Elgin’s Beth Weaver was the winner in No. 1 singles in the Storm’s match against the Hilltoppers.
