Updated: July 16, 2012 6:20AM

Connie Ellett was defeated 2 and 1 by Kristi Tschudin in the quarterfinals of the Illinois Women’s Golf Association State Amateur on Thursday at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood.

Ellett, a Hampshire High School graduate and Northern Illinois recruit, was eliminated from the competition. After downing Ellett, Tschudin lost in the semis.

Connie Ellett’s older sister, Taylor Ellett, advanced to the Second Flight championship match. Taylor, also an NIU student-athlete, defeated Winnetka’s Dana Gullen 3 and 2 in the Second Flight semifinal match.

Taylor Ellett is slated to face Mary Kate Rohn from Elmhurst in Friday’s final.

Bears, Packers to tee off in Rivalry Cup

The storied rivalry between the Bears and Green Bay Packers is coming to Medinah Country Club’s famed Course No. 3 — host venue of the 2012 Ryder Cup — to raise money for Bears and Packers charities and to determine bragging rights.

This Ryder Cup-formatted event, set for noon Monday, will include four-ball and singles play, as well as a special reception and a program featuring a Q&A with the competitors. Participants include past and present players and coaches from both teams. Jeff Joniak, radio voice of the Bears, and Packers radio man Wayne Larrivee, will host the Q&A.

Limited tickets are available to the public at www.events.org/rivalry.

The Bears scheduled to play include: Kevin Butler, Richard Dent, Mike Ditka, Robbie Gould, Patrick Mannelly, Adam Podlesh, James “Big Cat” Williams and Dave Toub.

The Packers lineup includes: Mason Crosby, Lynn Dickey, Jerry Fontenot — the current Packers tight ends coach who also played for the Bears, Craig Hentrich, John Kuhn, Tim Masthay and Bill Schroeder.

Tee times are at noon and the event program is slated for 6 p.m. at Medinah Country Club, 6N001 Medinah Road, 60157.
