Elgin Sports Hall of Fame names scholarship winners

The Elgin Sports Hall of Fame Foundation has announced its scholarship recipients for 2012.

According to the ESHOF website:

Although the ESHOF has several missions, one of its main focuses is to provide scholarship money to student athletes.

These young women and men must live in and/or attend high school in Elgin, have excelled in their area of competition, and are seeking to further their education at the college level.

Thanks to the generosity of those who have supported the scholarship fund through 2011, $281,500 has been contributed to advancing the education of these fine Elgin area students.

This year’s honorees include:

Larkin High School — Devontate Joshua, Bret Barry, Kyle Newquist, Maggie Hoffman, Jill Casebeer, Lexi Smithberg.

Elgin High School — Elrich Keophilalay, Dennis Moore, Alex Doty, Rachel Roth, Kenyatta Scales, Briana Hamilton.

St. Edward High School — Luke Duffy, Mark Sink, Katie Ayello, Jordyn Madden, Katherine Von Ahnen.

Westminster Christian High School — Josh Beachler, Ryan Perez, Whitney Vanden Bos.

Elgin Academy — Angie Martinez, Ashley Barnes.

Burlington Central High School — Clint Kliem, Johnny Major.

Harvest Christian Academy — Callie Arosen.
