Roundup: Blake Alexander homer lifts Burlington Central

Blake Alexander hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning Friday to proel Burlington Central to a 4-3 victory at Dundee-Crown in nonconference baseball action.
The Rockets (24-9) led 2-1 before D-C tied it in the fifth.
Ryan Schuring (3-2) pitched 3 2/3 innings and fanned two to get the win. Alexander had two hits for Central and Michael Scott went 2-for-4. Reed Hunnicutt and Tanner Scott both doubled for the Rockets.
SOFTBALL
Bartlett 9, Lake Park 3
Kayla Haberstitch homered and Tori Burke (15-5) struck out seven as the Hawks clinched a share of the UEC Valley championship with their final chance.
Bartlett (26-6, 16-3) shares the crown — its first league title in six years — with Waubonsie Valley. The Hawks broke a three-game skid with the win in Roselle.
St. Charles East 8, Larkin 6
Haley Beno earned the win for the Saints in UEC River action.
Kiernan Schock took the loss. Larkin’s top hitters were Beth Barry (3-for-4, RBI), Nikki Banks (3-for-4, RBI) and Lexi Smithberg 2-for-4).

The Red Raiders prevailed at the Class 3A Rockford Jefferson Regional, claiming an overtime victory and their sixth consecutive regional championship.
