Beefing about McDonald’s: A Speak Out caller on Wednesday (April 4) seemed to focus heavily on McDonald’s restaurants. I wondered if the caller has an issue with McDonald’s. After all, their “pink slime” has been in ground beef and eaten just fine for decades. For some reason, the caller wants to pick on McDonald’s and ask if they are the perpetrator on extending the use of the product. Go figure. Wonder what the real issue is?
Fowl idea: This is to Elgin with its chicken concern. I grew up on a farm. The roosters crowed every two hours. We have dogs in Elgin barking every hour 24/7. Come on guys, use your heads. Keep chickens out in the country. Put the dogs out there, too.
Elderly excluded: Our weakened society is going to the dogs. I’m a senior, and I talk to other seniors. The same thread of complaint is that middle-aged folks no longer include the senior parents, aunts, uncles and friends at special occasions. I have heard of so many seniors spending holidays alone because of the selfishness of the middle-aged people. It’s definitely young, middle-aged and seniors these days, but they are not altogether as a family.
Mistrust of Madigan: I have a problem with Attorney General Lisa Madigan. I don’t believe that the daughter of the most powerful man in Illinois should be in the position she is in. We’ve watched our former governor get a 14-year prison sentence for wrongdoing. Would Lisa Madigan ever prosecute her father for wrongdoing? Remember when Michael Madigan promised new ethics laws in Illinois? He never did what he said he would do.
