Egg layers in Elgin: This is about Mayor Kaptain turning Elgin into a chicken farm. Guess what? I’m getting 20 pigs. Have you ever experienced what pigs smell like? Can you imagine living next door to someone with chickens in their yard? Now I know why St. Charles and Geneva are more attractive than Elgin. We are the laughing stock of the Fox Valley other than Meadowdale.
Editor’s note: The raising of backyard chickens is a permitted use within the corporate limits of St. Charles, as well as West Dundee and Naperville. Aurora, Geneva and Oswego are among the Fox Valley towns that prohibit chicken coops and other fowl.
Bring out the lawnmowers: It’s time to pull out the oil and gas and rev up the lawnmowers. Many lawns in Elgin need mowing or there will be hayfields.
Elgin hatched a good idea: Hey, way to go, Elgin, on the chickens. That’s a wonderful idea. I wish East Dundee would do something like that instead of picking everything apart.
Kudos to Obamacare: President Obama has created an insurance plan in an effort to get the 50 million uninsured Americans insured so that the rest of us don’t have to pay for their health care. The Republicans countered that any employer can stop anyone’s insurance based on religious, ethical or moral grounds. There’s your choice. It seems that Republicans are in the bag for insurance companies and catering to them with loopholes so they can make more money.
Forget the dog park: This is in regards to the proposed dog park. I don’t think Elgin needs to spend almost $54,000 when it is raising everyone’s water bills and garbage bills. We love animals, but forget the dog park. Let people walk their dogs in their own neighborhoods.
Supreme Court looks at Obamacare: So the Supreme Court will finally be hearing the people who are for or against Obamacare. I do hope that the judge who was appointed by Obama will recuse herself. She cannot be unbiased since she helped to write it. Fair is fair. I do hope they realize we are not idiots out here, or at least not most of us.
Mailing lacks information: The Elgin mailing that was supposed to answer our questions about garbage fees and the new taxes on utilities does not answer anything. The government in Elgin is just charging us double.
