Hampshire-Burlington seniors grateful for school programs

With a beautiful fresh coating of snow on the ground — and under bright, clear, sunny, blue skies — Coach Dan Cavanaugh and his football players once again brightened the Christmas season with his wonderful, traditional lasagna luncheon at Hampshire High School for the senior citizens of the Hampshire-Burlington area.

The food was, as always, excellent, and the service was outstanding. And for a special dessert, Chris Cherry brought his wonderful Madrigal Singers in to serenade us with Christmas carols.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Chris, and the Madrigals, for getting us into the holiday spirit with a beautiful program of Christmas music at our regular Senior Citizens Club meeting on Dec. 12.

Coach Cavanaugh, Mr. Cherry and all of you beautiful young people — you do so much to make life for seniors here in the Hampshire-Burlington area a happy, joyful experience.

We close with a heartfelt thank-you, and best wishes for a joyful and blessed holiday season.

Dale A. Dopkins

President, Hampshire-Burlington Senior Citizens Club
