It’s time for action vs. lethal weaponry in US
As a grandfather of a 5-year-old grandson, this is the saddest day of my life. As I sit here today outraged and sickened by another senseless, tragic episode of children — OUR BABIES — being gunned down while in their kindergarten class, and feeling so upset that I almost can’t stand it, I know I must do something now!
It is time, America, for us to demand that enough is enough!
Right now all across America, those who believe this horrific act of murder will result in our government sending in the “black helicopters” to take away their guns are lining up in gun stores to buy more guns. They are soooooo afraid.
They are afraid because the gun manufacturers and their assisting lobbyist, the NRA, stuff millions of dollars into our lawmakers’ campaign chests and pay talking heads millions more dollars to propagandize every day on right-wing radio, right-wing websites and right-wing Fox so people believe this fear-mongering, which keeps the profits of death rolling in.
Handguns and assault weapons are designed to kill people, period. And the simple math is the more of these death tools that are bought and sold, the more death there will be. It is completely absurd that, in 21st century America, anyone needs to own an assault weapon.
It is time for the federalization of gun laws in this country. Non-uniform state laws have failed to stop gun violence, and these concealed carry laws have only succeeded in causing more death. The gun lovers always fall back on the stupid saying “guns don’t kill people, people do.” But the fact is people with guns kill people every single day in America — 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Somewhere today, the next sick killer is planning the next mass murder. He already has walked into a gun store and bought four — maybe five — guns with no questions asked; he has purchased hundreds of rounds of ammunition without question; he has bought a bullet-proof vest and helmet with no questions asked; he has taken no physiological test or gun safety class; he didn’t have any waiting period. He has his mega-round magazines loaded. He has a plan and is ready to attack — tonight, tomorrow, next week or the week after — somewhere in America. I pray to God it’s not at my grandson’s school.
A simple reason why all of this has taken place
Reflecting on the horror that took place at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut brought me to the words of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”
Solzhenitsyn was referring to the horrors he witnessed under what he referred to as “the ruinous Revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people.” That revolution was a socialist system of government coupled with the replacement of God with the state: communism.
Every day in this country, we go further down the same path yet we continue to ask: How could all this happen? I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”
Forget about fiscal cliff
America has fallen off the cliff, and it is the Connecticut school massacre.
