Chemicals cause cancer: Instead of spending so much money on foolish wars, maybe more money should be spent on finding the causes of cancer. My personal opinion is there are too many chemicals being used to harvest produce and to fatten animals quickly. We are breathing, eating and swallowing way too many chemicals. Our bodies just give up to cancer. Government, loosen the purse strings to medical science. Other serious diseases are Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

Missing mark on culling deer: I can’t believe Kane County is going to allow archery to cull the deer in the forest preserves. It is not a humane way to cull them. Sharpshooting is the only humane way to do it. If there are people who want to practice shooting, let them go to an archery range. This is ridiculous.

Romney should release tax info: I question why Governor Romney won’t release his income tax information. If he’s such a family man, don’t they teach families to be honest? If he doesn’t release the information, he must have something to hide. I cannot vote for someone or believe him if he’s hiding something. I suggest that he tells the truth.

Put lights in right spot: All one has to do is sit in traffic at Big Timber Road and Illinois 72 (northwest of Elgin) on a busy afternoon or in the morning to know that they need a stoplight there far more than they need one at Reinking Road and Illinois 72. I can’t believe they are entertaining that idea and not putting in lights at 72 and Big Timber.

Fear for deer: Apparently an Ebola-like disease called EHD has killed hundreds of deer in Cook and Kane counties. Now the Kane County Forest Preserve is allowing bow hunters to go out and kill deer to reduce their population. It seems the forest preserve does not know how to preserve anything, not even common sense.

Request for better fests: I read a Speak Out comment that the South Elgin RiverFest blows Elgin fests away. They are absolutely right. South Elgin does have a good fest. The caller didn’t mention they also do a great antique car show. When Elgin does it, they show electric cars. That’s not what real car guys want. They want real cars. RiverFest in South Elgin is great. Come on, Elgin, wake up. You’re a big town. You don’t even compare to the other towns.

Peek in back seat: I wonder lately if windows in the back seats of cars are tinted too dark. If an infant is left in the car in hot weather, a person walking by cannot see in to possibly save the wee one. Maybe it would help if people could see into the back seats of cars.
