Soccer kicks football: The Courier-News reported that schools are starting up their football programs. A few of them, such as Larkin High School, are having trouble recruiting teams. No reason is cited, but I’ll state the reason. Larkin High School is probably 70 percent Mexican. These children don’t know football. They only know soccer. Will football die now that schools are inundated with the children of illegal immigrants?
Take down tree: I’d like to put something in the newspaper for the state highway department. I’d like to see a tree cut down. It’s sticking over the edge when you’re westbound on (Route) 20 at the Route 31 exit by the bridge (in Elgin). People can’t see around it when they are trying to make a right-hand turn after stopping at a red light. You have to edge out before you can proceed. That’s no good. They should get rid of that tree on the left side. It would look nicer and cleaner.
Ripped-up roads: Maybe you guys could find out who makes these decisions in this town, but why would you close down Wing Street and all the side streets accessing it when you’ve already got McLean Boulevard, (Route) 20, and Randall Road all screwed up? You’ve also got Kimball Street screwed up, and Route 31 is screwed up near Big Timber Road. So now you decide to rip up Wing Street? Who in the world thinks of these things? Maybe you could find out. They should be fired.
