Sticking up for stickers: The city of Elgin is not shy about raising our taxes and giving us fees for garbage. How about city stickers? Some of these homes have four to six cars. That would make things more equal. Nobody will ever give an answer on why they won’t consider stickers. It was supposed to be the riverboat that kept us from paying for city stickers. Now that they’ve taken the senior citizen (rebate) away, how about making people pay for city stickers?
Waiting out the war: I wonder how some of these elected officials got out of serving in Vietnam. Former Vice President Dick Cheney had six deferments to keep him out of the war. Mitt Romney was of age to serve in Vietnam. Why didn’t he? He was working in Paris during the Vietnam War. For a guy who wants to go to war over Russia and Syria, when it comes to fighting himself and pitching in, I guess he didn’t feel it was time.
