Go green: I went to the Green Expo to find out how I could save money on electricity. I parked in the city and walked through the city hall plaza. I noticed two computer screens were on at the northwest corner office, and there was nobody around. I stopped by the ComEd exhibit and read their material. One of their handouts was about power strips that shut down energy-hungry computers. I passed the office again, and the computers were still on with nobody around.

C’ville code enforcer: I’d like to give a big thank-you to our code enforcer in Carpentersville, Rick Mattern. His job is not an easy one. Keep up the great job, Rick, we really need you. We appreciate all that you do for our village.

Clear the arteries: I agree with your caller about the traffic at Wing Street and McLean Boulevard by Illinois Park Elementary School. I’ve been caught in that traffic. I think Elgin could make some revenue by writing tickets for parking in a no-parking area. That’s a main artery. The caller was absolutely right.
