Kudos to Jeff Ward: My hat is off once again to Jeff Ward regarding his column on Mikhail Gorbachev’s visit to Judson University. Tying biblical references to quotes by Gorbachev and the Paul Ryan budget was spot on. Isn’t it funny how often politicians will try to woo a crowd with their Christian values when they have no real understanding about the heart of God? Thank you, Jeff. You are a voice of reason and compassion.
Kudos to forestry department: I would like to thank the Elgin forestry department. What a beautiful job they did of taking trees off of my property on Moseley Street. You did one good job. Keep up the good work.
Mad about Madigan: To all the Illinois taxpayers getting ready to pay their property taxes, I hope you realize something about your leading legislator, Michael Madigan. His whole job as a lawyer is to find ways for corporations to pay less property tax and less taxes altogether. That’s his job, and he’s very good at it. All the top corporations want Madigan. Every time he finds tax relief and loopholes for big corporations, who has to fall in and pay that share of taxes no longer being paid by them? Yeah, now you’ve got it. The Illinois homeowner. We have to pay $4,000 to $5,000 a year for homes worth $150,000 on paper. Madigan is doing his utmost to make sure that corporations don’t pay their fair share. It’s quite a quandary. It’s time for Madigan to go, don’t you think?
Editor’s note: Regardless of what one might think about Madigan, it must be remembered that property taxes are primarily a local issue.
