Chesbrough gets 6 months in jail, ordered to repay $200,000

Elgin attorney William Chesbrough Jr. was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to pay over 200,000 in restitution Wednesday on charges that he stole from families he was representing.
Chesbrough was accused of bilking several families out of more than $200,000 while serving as their attorney.
In May, he pleaded guilty to three felony counts, including two for theft and one for financial exploitation of an elderly person while representing the victims as their lawyer.
In Kane County Court Wednesday, he was ordered to serve 180 days in the county jail, four years probation after his release, and to pay $204,995 restitution.
