Rockford woman killed in collision with pickup

Fatal crash: A Rockford woman was killed Friday when her vehicle was hit by a pickup truck at Harmony Road and Route 20.
According to the McHenry County sheriff’s office, at 11:07 a.m. a 2008 Ford Ranger driven by Kenneth G. Englert, of Rochelle, was eastbound on Harmony Road and failed to yield for a stop sign, colliding with 2004 Chevrolet driven by Patricia J. McNamara of Rockford. According to officials, the Ford came to rest in the intersection and sustained front end damage while the Chevrolet came to rest off the northeast corner of the roadway. There was significant driver’s side damage, officials said.
Englert was transported Provena St. Joseph Hospital in where he was treated and released. McNamara was transported to Sherman Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Both drivers were wearing their safety belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles, officials said.
The crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
Elgin
Pot arrest: Emmanuel G. Tucker, 20, no address given, was arrested Saturday in Elgin, charged with misdemeanor counts of delivery and possession of marijuana. Police looking for suspects in a car burglary stopped Tucker while walking on Villa Street at 11:30 p.m. He was released on bail and given an Oct. 28 court date.
Smash and grab: Between 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Friday, someone smashed the window of a car parked in a lot in the 300 block of Division Street and stole a GPS device, police reported.
Theft from auto: The hood ornament of a 2006 Jaguar was stolen between 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday while it was parked in a lot in the 1000 block of Byron Lane, police said.
