BARTLETT — The TCF Bank branch inside the Jewel/Osco store on Stearns Road was robbed Thursday evening for the second time in less than six weeks, police said.

Bartlett police said they and agents of the FBI responded to the holdup report about 5 p.m. at the branch at 125 E. Stearns Road. Witnesses said a man entered the store and passed a note to a teller demanding money. Police said a weapon was implied but not displayed. The robber fled with an undetermined amount of money.

The robber was described as black, about 30 years old; 5 feet 11 inches tall; weighing about 150 pounds; and wearing a baseball hat, sunglasses and a headband

The same TCF Bank was robbed June 6. According to police and the FBI, two men entered the store about 3:20 p.m. and one passed a note to the teller demanding money. Both men fled with an undetermined amount of money from the teller. The robber who approached the bank teller was described as black, about 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a baseball hat. The other suspect was black, about 20 years old and wearing a baseball hat. Both men also are suspects in a May 26 armed robbery of a TCF Bank in Elmhurst, an attempted holdup June 6 at a TCF Bank in Hoffman Estates, and a robbery June 12 of the TCF Bank at 1660 Larkin Ave. in Elgin.

Anyone with information on any of the robberies is asked to call Bartlett police at 630-837-0846 or the FBI at 312-421-6700.
