Elgin
Two marijuana deals: Police believe they interrupted two marijuana sales deals over the weekend. At about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, officers driving an unmarked car at Grace and May streets said they saw two men throw a large bag of marijuana and a digital scale under a parked SUV, then run away. The officers said they were able to stop one man, identified as Rudolfo Santiago Juarez, 19, of Elgin, who said he had been purchasing the drug from the second man, who remained at large. Juarez was charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, then released on bond pending a hearing. At 11:20 p.m. Saturday, officers said they found Raymond P. Sumner, 18, of Elgin and Tyler J. Lake, 19, of Elgin, sitting in a parked car in the 0-100 block of Lincoln Avenue, with more than a dozen plastic bags containing marijuana around them. Sumner was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and taken to the Kane County jail. Lake was charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis and released on bond pending a hearing.
Bartlett
Theft from homeowner’s association: A former Bartlett resident, 37-year-old Vanessa M. Sanders of Chicago, has been charged with stealing from a Bartlett homeowners association. Police reported Thursday that the Financial Crimes Unit of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and Bartlett police have charged her with Class 2 felony theft. Police say that between August 2006 and October 2010, Sanders stole approximately $17,000 from the Bartlett Place Condo Association while she served as its treasurer. She allegedly used the stolen funds for her own personal use. Police said a Cook County judge set her bail at $50,000 Wednesday.
