Armored carrier used in Elgin drug raid

Drug raid: Elgin police used its armored personnel carrier on Wednesday evening to conduct a drug raid in the 300 block of Kathleen Drive, on Elgin’s west side near McLean Boulevard and Route 20, authorities said. Drugs and guns were seized in the raid, according to police Cmdr. Glenn Theriault, and charges are pending with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. Several arrests were expected to be announced Thursday morning.
Bail set in Elgin shooting: Bail was set at $250,000 Wednesday for Anthony A. Robledo, 18, of the 2000 block of Monday Drive in Elgin, who has been charged with a Class 1 felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm. He is accused of firing a gun at a group of people near the intersection of Shuler Street and Mallery Avenue at 8 p.m. Monday. No one was hit by the gunfire, but the bullet went through a neighboring garage door and hit a carpet-cleaning machine in the garage. Robledo was assigned a June 29 court date. A 17-year-old involved in the incident has been charged as a juvenile with unlawful contact with a street gang member, authorities said.
Fought with officers: Yesenia L. Gonzales, 24, of the 400 block of East Chicago Street, Elgin, was charged with a felony count of aggravated battery to a police officer and misdemeanor counts of resisting a police officer and criminal damage to property, following an incident Monday. According to police, Gonzales refused to get out of an ambulance and shoved officers, causing an officer to fall. Bail was set at $10,000, and she was given a June 27 court date.
