HAMPSHIRE — A fire Sunday morning caused just over $75,000 in estimated damage to a home just east of Hampshire, officials said.
The blaze was reported at 8:05 a.m. at 44W516 Big Timber Road, according to Trevor Herrmann, deputy chief of the Hampshire Fire Department. Firefighters arriving at the scene found an unattached garage fully involved, with flames reaching a camper trailer next to the building, Herrmann said in a press release.
The fire was brought under control at 8:50 a.m., and no one was injured, he said.
But by then, the blaze had destroyed the garage — which contained roofing construction materials, tractors and several appliances — heavily damaged the trailer and caused heat damage to the adjacent home, Herrmann said.
Firefighters remained at the scene doing overhaul until 11 a.m., and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
Hampshire firefighters were assisted by fire departments from Burlington, Pingree Grove, Huntley, Genoa and Marengo; Herrmann said; the Fox River Fire Department and Genoa EMS covered the Hampshire station and responded to additional calls.
