Cyclist badly injured: Police were investigating a one-vehicle motorcycle crash that left a 42-year-old man in critical condition Sunday night. Police said that at about 8:16 p.m., the police and fire departments responded to the 1700 block of Big Timber Road, a short distance west of McLean Boulevard, for a traffic crash involving a motorcycle that had left the roadway. Elgin paramedics took the rider, whose name has not yet been released, to Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Police said a preliminary investigation concluded that the driver was eastbound on Big Timber when he left the roadway, and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. Eastbound Big Timber was closed between Todd Farm Drive and McLean Boulevard for more than two hours. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 847-289-2661.

Little League burglary: Someone broke into the concession stand at the Elgin National League Little League field in the 700 block of Summit Street between 8 p.m. Friday and 11:45 a.m. Saturday, league officials told police. The burglars took about $100 in $1 bills and change, plus assorted candy, officials told investigators.
