SUV hijacked in parking lot: A Ford Explorer was hijacked last Sunday from a man who was sitting in the vehicle in a parking lot on Todd Farm Drive, police said Friday. According to the victim, he was sitting in the SUV with the door open and talking on his cellphone at about 6 p.m. when two men walked over and one of the men forced open the door, and the other man hit the victim in the head, possibly with the butt of a gun. The men pulled the victim from the car, told him to leave, and drove away, policed said.

Sex assault: A 16-year-old Algonquin youth has been charged with criminal sexual assault in connection with an alleged attack on an 18-year-old Crystal Lake woman at her home. The youth was charged with one count of felony criminal sexual assault and misdemeanor battery of an insulting and provoking nature, according to a release from Crystal Lake police. Officers responded at 11:34 a.m. Thursday to the woman’s home in the 200 block of Peterson Parkway, and the woman said the youth — a family acquaintance with access to the home — sexually assaulted her, the release said.
