BMX bikes missing: It took suspects less than 15 minutes to remove more than $22,000 worth of custom BMX racing bicycles from an Elgin residence Friday night, according to Elgin police reports. A burglar alarm was activated at 8:26 p.m. at the home located on Carlyle Court, and police were on the scene to investigate by 8:41 p.m. They found a hole in an outside wall leading into the garage and another hole in the interior garage wall leading into the home. A motion-sensitive light had been ripped off an outside shed and the audible alarm box was discovered pulled out of the wall in the kitchen, according to police. Taken in the incident were two custom BMX racing bicycles valued at $10,000 each, which had been stored in an upstairs room. Three other bicycles valued at least $1,000 each, which had been chained together and mounted on the garage ceiling, were also taken, police said.

Road rage incident?: A resident in the 1000 block of Wakefield Drive told police that the driver of another car followed him home Thursday after the victim honked his horn twice while waiting at a traffic light at Route 59 and Shoe Factory Road. The victim said he then drove around the other car, described as an older Buick, but that the driver then cut across several lanes of traffic to follow him home, passing by his house six or seven times. The final time, he told police, the driver may have pointed a gun at the victim. An officer did see the vehicle, but the driver managed to speed away, police said.

Car window shattered: Police were called to the 600 block of Dundee Avenue for the report of a car window that had been shattered sometime overnight Wednesday. The victim told police she had parked the car in the driveway at about 9:30 p.m. and discovered the damage Thursday morning. Nothing was reported missing from the car, and no other damage was reported.
