Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove will play host to a 2016 LPGA event — and Kane County officials see it as a win for the whole county.
County Board Committee of the Whole members on Tuesday watched a short video on the International Crown tournament, which will feature 32 players from eight different countries over four days.
The event will put the local area in the spotlight, officials said.
“There’s a great potential for bringing attention to our county,” board Chairman Chris Lauzen said.
Rich Harvest Farms, which was designed and built by Jerry Rich, played host to the 2009 Solheim Cup. That event drew more than 100,000 people over a three-day period.
The course also is the home to the Northern Illinois University golf team.
The first LPGA International Crown will be held in Baltimore Maryland in 2014.
