EAST DUNDEE — The Fox River Valley Public Library District Board of Trustees took time out at a recent meeting to recognize and honor outgoing board member Lenore McDonald.
McDonald served as an elected Library Trustee from 2007 to this year, including two years as board president (2009-2011) and another two as vice president (2011-2013).
During her tenure, McDonald played a pivotal role in the development of the district, including a complete interior renovation of the main Dundee Library, implementation of the automated return and checkout system, the addition of digital enhancements, remote book drops, Spanish materials and services, and the opening of the Randall Oaks Branch Library, officials said.
“Lenore generously gave of her expertise in the areas of employee safety prior to and during the renovation,” said Marge Skold, board president. “She was pivotal in her work with library director Roxane Bennett when the current employee handbook and standards were written. We will miss her and wish her well in her future endeavors.”
Fred Lechuga, who has been a trustee since 2010, will act as vice president until the June election of board officers.
The Fox River Valley Public Library District administrative office is in the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee. The Randall Oaks Branch Library is at 500 N. Randall Road in West Dundee.
