C’ville woman charged in knife attack

Stabbing charges: Miriam Metzelaar, 54, of the 4000 block of Stratford Lane, Carpentersville, was charged with felony counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery to a victim over the age of 60, as well as a misdemeanor count of domestic battery, following an incident Monday. According to police, she is accused of using a carving knife to strike a family member on the upper left abdomen. According to police the man was only scratched. Bail was set at $10,000, and she was given a Feb. 13 court date.
