Dist. U46: Schools on state honor roll
Four Elgin School District U46 schools received Academic Excellence Awards as part of the Illinois State Board of Education and Northern Illinois University 2012 Illinois Honor Roll. The schools are Bartlett Elementary, Centennial Elementary, Prairieview Elementary, and Wayne Elementary.
“I applaud the teachers, staff, students and parents at these award-winning elementary schools for their commitment to hard work and academic success that led to this prestigious recognition,” said Superintendent José Torres. “Our school staff in U46 will continue to develop a culture for learning and high expectations so that each and every student can reach high academic standards.”
The Academic Excellence Awards recognized 454 schools that sustained very high academic performance over the last three years. In elementary schools, at least 90 percent of the students met or exceeded state standards in both reading and math for at least three consecutive years.
While Wayne Elementary School is a first-year winner of the Academic Excellence Award, Bartlett Elementary School has received it every year since 2009, and Centennial and Prairieview have received it every year since 2008.
