Elgin
Retail theft: Jose L. Mendez-Zamudio, 17, of the 500 block of Spring Street, Aurora, was charged with a felony count of retail theft. He is accused of taking six Wii gaming systems with a total value of $1,800 from the Randall Road Wal-Mart in Elgin on Thursday.
Residential burglary: Lean Bonds, 18, of the 1700 block of Devonshire Circle, Elgin, was charged with two counts of felony residential burglary and a misdemeanor charge of theft by deception, stemming from an incident Jan. 11. He is accused of taking a laptop from a relative’s home and selling it at a pawn shop in Elgin.
Unlocked car burglarized: A cellphone, sunglasses and change were reported taken from an unlocked car parked in the 600 block of Lavoie Avenue on Saturday. The resident said she had gone out to walk her dog and realized the car was not locked, then noticed the items were missing.
Carpentersville
Burglary charges: Rodrigo Jimenez, 18, of the 900 block of Berkley Street, Carpentersville, and Luis Tavares, 19, of the 100 block of Mayfield Avenue, were charged each with a Class 1 felony count of residential burglary, stemming from an incident Monday. They are accused of entering a house in the 1400 block of Plymouth Circle to commit a theft. Bail was set at $75,000 for both men, and they were given February court dates.
