Burglary aborted: Two teenagers trying to break into a home in the 400 block of West Chicago Street Friday morning may not have realized that somebody was at home. According to a report Tuesday, a man who rents space in the home’s basement told police he heard glass breaking at about 9:55 a.m. Coming upstairs, he saw that two teenagers had broke glass on the front door but ran away when they saw him.
Card theft: A 19-year-old woman from Richton Park told Elgin police that someone stole her credit card on July 4, 2012, and used it to charge $1,868 worth of cash advances at the Meijer store in Elgin on June 26.
