Elginite faces unlawful restraint, battery charges

Elgin
Assault charges: Julio C. Banderas, 18, of the 200 block of Jefferson Street, Elgin, was charged with two felony counts of unlawful restraint and misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault, domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic battery following an incident Jan. 3. He is accused of threatening a family member with a steak knife and hammer, and preventing others from leaving the home. Bail was set at $15,000, and he was assigned a Jan. 16 court date.
Cellphone theft: Adrian Escalante, 20, of West Chicago, was charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft, accused of taking a Samsung cellphone Sunday from the Target store at 300 Randall Road. Bail was set at $15,000, and he was given a Jan. 17 court date.
West Dundee
Order of protection: Billy R. McCorkle, 78, of the 500 block of Barrington Avenue, East Dundee, was charged with violating an order of protection. He is accused of entering a 1,500-foot exclusion zone around the victim’s residence. Bail was set at $7,500, and he was assigned a Jan. 16 court date.
Carpentersville
Heroin charges: Crystal M. Lanan, 21, of the 2000 block of Spaulding Avenue, West Dundee, was charged by Carpentersville police with a Class 1 felony count of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, heroin; a Class 4 felony count of possession of a controlled substance; and misdemeanor counts of possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia following an arrest Jan. 3. Bail was set at $40,000, and she was given a Jan. 18 court date.
