South Elgin man threatened with BB gun, golf club

Updated: January 26, 2013 6:24AM

A man allegedly kicked a South Elgin resident’s door, then threatened the person with a BB gun and a golf club earlier this month.

Carliss Henderson allegedly ran away after other people arrived at the home and the resident, an acquaintance of his, called police Dec. 8 about 1 p.m., according to a release from South Elgin police.

The resident told officers Henderson kicked in the door of the home in the 400 block of Lowell Drive and refused to leave, then threatened the victim with the BB gun and the golf club, the release said.

South Elgin police arrested Henderson near State and West Chicago streets about seven hours later, after they responded to a call of an individual “acting strangely.”

Henderson, of the 700 block of West Highland Avenue in Elgin, was charged with home invasion, two counts of armed robbery, aggravated unlawful restraint and criminal damage to property.

Henderson was initially ordered with a $751,000 bond, which has since increased by $10,000 after he was also charged with resisting a peace officer or correctional institution employee, and damaging government property, records show.

Henderson will next appear in court Jan. 24, 2013, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s office.
