With Kurt Kojzarek’s election Nov. 6 to the Kane County Board, he will have to resign as Elgin Township clerk.
So the remaining township board members decided to hold a special board meeting to name a new clerk at 11 a.m. Dec. 26 in the Elgin Township building, 729 S. McLean Blvd., Elgin. The person chosen will serve as clerk until a new one is elected to a four-year term in next April’s election.
Last week, Laura Wallett of South Elgin, who is running unopposed for the clerk’s job in the Feb. 26 GOP primary, said she expects to be named to the vacancy now. Three of the four township trustees were elected as Republicans. But the board’s agenda for the special meeting says trustees will consider letters of interest from any qualified candidate before voting.
