GENEVA — New Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen is placing a high priority on replenishing the strength of the county accounting department and hiring a new finance director.
On Tuesday the County Board approved replacing one of the county’s staff accountants, who left for a new position. That accountant was one of two who stepped in to fill the void when the county’s chief financial officer left for a new position last summer.
Lauzen, an accountant by profession, thanked the two accountants for their efforts. And he said it’s difficult for a county the size of Kane to survive without a finance director.
“The very top priority is to make sure we fill that position,” said Lauzen, who was elected board chairman last month after serving 20 years as a state senator from Aurora.
The county’s Finance Committee is scheduled to meet on Dec. 26 under the leadership of new committee chairman John Hoscheit, R-St. Charles.
