Arrested twice: Less than a half hour after he was released following one arrest by Elgin police, a Chicago man was arrested again. According to police reports, 27-year-old Nathan Etzel was arrested before dawn Sunday on charges of public drunkenness and resisting an officer. At 6:15 a.m. he was released on his own recognizance. But at 6:35 a.m. residents of the 1500 block of Mark Avenue complained that Etzel was yelling, swearing and pounding on doors and windows there. Police then re-arrested him and charged him with disorderly conduct.
Gas station robbed: Two men robbed the Marathon gas station at 771 Walnut Ave. on Nov. 28, according to a report released by police Monday. A station employee said the men entered about 9:42 p.m., one wearing a bandana over his face. The masked man reportedly pointed a small silver gun at the clerk and demanded all the money in the cash register while the second man repeatedly urged the first one to “shoot him, bro.” The clerk said they then walked away with $286.
Door kicked in: Someone kicked open the back door of a home in the 400 block of Shady Oaks Drive and burglarized the home between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday. The owners told police the intruder stole a Guerrini-brand accordion, a $2,800 diamond ring, a gold necklace with a diamond cross, about 10 gold earrings and several wristwatches.
