Retail theft and battery: Dekali O. Gordon, 20, of Chicago, was charged with felony counts of battery to a merchant and retail theft, as well as four additional misdemeanor counts of retail theft from incidents in October and this month. According to police, Gorden shoplifted from both the South Elgin and Elgin Target stores, and battered a Target employee who attempted to stop him on Monday. Bail was set at $25,000, and he was given a Dec. 12 court date.
Suspended license: Agustin L. Acevedo, 31, of the 500 block of Glenwood, Elgin, was charged with a felony count of driving on a suspended or revoked license, third offense, and a misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop Tuesday. Bail was set at $25,000, and he was given a Dec. 14 court date.
Credit card dropped, used: Diamond G. Smith, 21, of the 400 block of Douglas Avenue, Elgin was charged with a felony count of unlawful use of a credit card following a Nov. 9 incident. According to the victim, he lost his credit card on Nov. 8, possibly outside a liquor store in the 800 block of Walnut Avenue. He later realized the loss and discovered $94.91 had been charged to the card at that store. The clerk had written down Smith’s identification information as his license did not match the credit card, leading police to him. Bail was set at $10,000, and he was given a Dec. 14 court date.
