Employee theft: An employee of the gas station at the Elgin Meijer store, at 815 S. Randall Road, has been charged with stealing large sums of money from the cash register. A loss prevention officer for the Meijer chain told police that $3,920 has disappeared from the cash register since Sept. 1, so he installed a hidden camera to watch what was going on. The officer said that on Sunday, the camera showed employee Justin Pawlarczyk taking $100 out of the drawer. Pawlarczyk, 25, of Romeo Drive in Elgin, was charged with one count of felony theft.
