Two facing felony cocaine charges

Bond set in cocaine arrests: Tina M. Vasquez, 44, homeless of Elgin, and Brett E. Terwilliger, 46, of the 300 block of Fountain Avenue, Elgin, were charged following a traffic stop Tuesday in which cocaine was found, police said. Vasquez was charged with a Class 1 felony count of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, cocaine, between 1 and 15 grams, and a Class 4 felony count of possession of a controlled substance. Terwilliger was charged with a Class 4 felony count of possession of a controlled substance. Police said they stopped a vehicle Terwilliger was driving at 11:25 p.m. for no working tail lights. According to police, Terwilliger said he had picked up Vasquez earlier in the evening and gave her $140 to purchase crack cocaine. He then drove her to a location to purchase the crack cocaine, police said. Bail was set at $100,000 for Vasquez and $15,000 for Terwilliger. They were both given court dates in Kane County.
Assault with knife: Isidro Castro-Alvarez, 23, of the 200 block of Tee Lane, Carpentersville, was charged with misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault and domestic battery after an incident Wednesday. He is accused of pointing an 8-inch butcher knife at a family member and hitting the family member in the face with a closed fist. Bail was set at $30,000, and he was given a Nov. 21 court date.
