A 44-year-old Aurora man is sitting in the Kane County Jail on charges he sexually assaulted a young family member.
The accusations against Jose Mendoza-Sosa, of the 300 block of Spring Street, are nearly identical to a multiple-count indictment in DuPage County that has Sosa wanted on a $1 million warrant which accuses him of sexually assaulting 10- and 15-year-old family members in August, court records show.
Sosa was arrested in August in Kane County after a Child Advocacy Center investigation led to charges that Sosa raped, sodomized and engaged in other sex acts with a family member under the age of 18, court documents show. Those incidents occurred between June and mid-August, the records state.
He is being held in Kane County on $100,000 bail with a status hearing scheduled for Oct. 25.
In September, while being held in Kane, Sosa was charged by DuPage County prosecutors with sex assault and two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault involving two children under the age of 16. Prosecutors said at least one of children is a named victim in the Kane case.
A grand jury indicted Sosa, who previously lived in Indiana, earlier this month and a warrant remains while he is custody in Kane. No court dates have been scheduled in DuPage, records show.
Those incidents, investigated by the DuPage’s Children’s Advocacy Center, are alleged to have occurred during the week in August before his arrest in Kane County.
Court records in both counties do not indicate where the assaults took place. Aurora police were not involved in either case, a spokesman said.
