Hampshire battled Burlington Central. Jacobs tackled Marmion Academy. Elgin squared off with Dundee-Crown.
And fans young and old were as excited as the players themselves as the high school football season kicked off this weekend around the Fox Valley.
Students, parents, grandparents and alums turned out in force to cheer on their heroes as the annual rite of (almost) fall played out.
