According to police, Hill’s 2012 Mazda was clocked at 67 mph in a 45 mph construction zone on Route 20 at 1:15 a.m. Thursday. When the officer attempted to stop Hill, police said, she sped away, turning off Route 20 at Grace Street, disobeying stop signs, and the officer lost sight of the vehicle. The car was found again near Elgin High School, where it had hit a mailbox at 624 Hampton Circle, sped away again, ran over lawns on the 1300 block of Concord, sped away again, and finally stopped when it hit a utility box and pole at 881 Villa St., according to police. Hill then ran from the crash on foot before being taken into custody in the 500 block of Lucille, police said. Hill was found with a small amount of marijuana and was driving on a learner’s permit, police said. An open bottle of watermelon vodka was also found in the vehicle, police said, and Hill was the only occupant of the car. Bail was set at $75,000, and she was given a Sept. 12 court date.
