ELGIN — Due to demand from shoppers, ReStore Elgin announced this week it will now open on Sundays through Sept. 30.
Operated with the Northern Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, ReStore is the Elgin retail center for re-used home improvement goods and furniture at 800 N. State St. (Route 31 on the city’s north side).
Since the store opened six years ago, its hours have remain unchanged, said Deanna Davies, ReStore director: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Beginning this weekend, those hours will now include noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
“Business is very good,” Davies said, which is partly why the extra day was added.
Since February, the Elgin Farmer’s Market (formerly Winter Market) also has been at ReStore on Saturdays. That has led to a very busy store and additional traffic, she said.
Sunday, however, seems to be a good fit for additional store hours and is the most-requested day by ReStore customers, she said.
Sunday hours will only remain in place through the end of September, and those hours will be re-evaluated if demand does not meet expectations, she said.
The store offers donated new and used household items including furniture, kitchen cabinets, flooring, tools, hardware, plumbing fixtures and electrical items.
