School thefts charged: Three students at St. Charles East High School have been charged with stealing items from the school last month during a club meeting, police said. Shane R. Carroll, 18, of the 3100 block of Raphael Court, St. Charles, was charged with burglary and two juvenile co-defendants have been petitioned into juvenile court. Police said the thefts occurred on Saturday, April 21, when a club of about 20 students was at the high school with a staff adviser. Three of the students began wandering around the school and entering offices and classrooms, taking cash, calculators, flash drives, laser pointers, memory sticks, keys and school passes, police said. Through an investigation, the school resource officer and high school staff were able to recover the stolen items and identify the students who were responsible, reports stated.
