BATAVIA — A Chicago man has been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a co-worker at a Batavia company Monday morning.
Calvin M. Hayes, 54, of the 300 block of North Pine Street in Chicago, is charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery in the incident at Suncast Corporation at 701 N. Kirk Road, police said.
The victim, Kendall C. McDonald, 45, of Maywood, suffered cuts to the left side of his ear and neck area, police said. Police said he was treated and released from a hospital.
Police said they were called to the plant at 6:50 a.m. for a report of a stabbing. Officers found Hayes in the parking lot at Suncast and took him into custody without incident. McDonald was found in an employee area of the factory, and was taken to the hospital by Fire Department paramedics.
Police said the two were co-workers who had just finished their shift and were about to go home. McDonald and Hayes were in the same vehicle, and got into an argument that led to the stabbing, police said.
