ELGIN — Two men suspected in a Jan. 8 stabbing were arrested last week after being picked up by police in Champaign Wednesday, Elgin police announced Monday.
Quinelle M. Franklin, 21, and his brother, Lavelle L. Franklin, 22, both of the 300 block of Sandhurst Lane, South Elgin, were both arrested on aggravated-battery charges related to the stabbing.
According to police, shortly after 5 a.m. on Jan. 8, officers were called to El Paraiso Restaurant, 314 S. McLean Blvd., for the report of a fight in which one victim had been stabbed — twice in the upper torso and once in the abdomen. The victim has since recovered from his injuries, police said.
Ricky L. Green, 18, of the 1200 block of Amanda Circle, Elgin, was previously arrested and charged with armed violence and aggravated battery in the incident.
On further investigation, police said, several additional suspects who were involved in the fight also were identified. Quinelle Franklin was identified as having allegedly stabbed the victim. The Franklin brothers were taken to the Kane County Jail where they are currently being held on a $70,000 bail, said Lt. Glenn Theriault. “Elgin police continue to investigate this incident and additional charges may be filed in the future,” he added.
