GOP debate Thursday for 25th, 49th Senate races

The Kendall County Young Republicans will host debates for Republican candidates of the 25th and 49th State Senate districts this week.

The debates will start at 7 p.m. Thursday with the 25th District candidates and 8 p.m. with the 49th District candidates, at the Oswego Taphouse, 123 Washington St.

The 25th District includes parts of Plano, Yorkville, Oswego and stretches around Aurora north to Elgin.

Republican candidates for the 25th District include Jim Oberweis, Dave Richmond and Rick Slocum.

The 49th District includes parts of Oswego and stretches south through Plainfield and into Will County.

Republican candidates in the 49th include Garrett Peck, Brian Smith, Gary Fitzgerald and Tony Giles.

The debates will be moderated by Brian Russell of WLS AM 890’s The Law Show and will include a moderated question-and-answer session with opening statements and a chance for candidates to offer 30-second rebuttals to any questions.
