Elgin: Baseball Skills and Drills at Taylor YMCA
Registration is underway for a two-week Baseball Skills and Drills program for youth 4 to 11 being offered at the Taylor Family YMCA, 50 N. McLean Blvd.
Participants will be able to brush up on the fundamentals Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays the weeks of April 8 and April 15. Practices will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. for Munchkin T-Ball (ages 4-5), from 6 to 7 p.m. for T-Ball (ages 6-7) and from 7 to 8 p.m. for Coach Pitch (ages 8-11). Registration for the Skills & Drills program is due by April 4. The fee for Y members is $30 per participant; for non-members, it’s $40 per participant.

Elgin: Sherman exec talk at Women’s Club meeting
The Elgin Woman’s Club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, April 2, at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon and program at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road.
Hosted by the Education Department, the program will feature a presentation by Mary Martini, vice president, Professional Services for Sherman Health, entitled, “A Future of Sherman Update.” Martini has worked at Sherman for the past 16 years and is responsible for the administrative oversight of the Sherman Immediate Care Centers, Pharmacy, Physician Services, Accreditation and Regulatory Affairs, Rehab Services, the Diabetes Center, Sleep Center, Marketing and Communications and Food and Nutrition Services.

Elgin: Holistic fair is scheduled for April 6
A free holistic fair featuring tools and techniques for self empowerment will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Simple Balance Holistic Center, 221 E. Chicago St.
The fair will feature practitioners from several health care disciplines. Drum journeying will be held at 4 p.m. and singing bowl meditation by Celestial Sounds at 4:30 p.m.

Gilberts: Horsemanship scheduled at YMCA
Spring Horsemanship I classes for youth 7 to 12 are scheduled to begin April 16 at Indian Hills Training Center, 16N503 Powers Road.
The four-week program will be held Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 16, 23 and 30 and May 7. Another 4-week session will be held May 14 through June 3.
Led by instructor Allison Cherkinian, the program incorporates training in basic horsemanship skills including grooming, bridling, saddling, caring for horses and the basics of English balance seat. The minimum class size is three participants; maximum size is 10. Cost per student is $125 for each four-week session.
