Christians around the world and in the Fox Valley celebrate the birth of Jesus in a variety of musical, candlelight and meditative services over the next several days. Here is a list of event notices that churches provided to the The Courier-News.
Carpentersville: Zion Christian plans candlelight
Zion Christian Church, located at 138 N. Washington St., Carpentersville will host their annual Candlelight Christmas Eve worship and celebration on Monday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. This year’s event will include Special Music and a dramatic presentation by the youth ministry, “The Zion Good News Crew,” in addition to Pastor Tom’s message, “The Miracle of Christmas,” and the traditional candlelight singing of “Silent Night.” For details contact Pastor Tom at PastorTom-Zion@comcast.net or 847-890-2151.
West Dundee: Christmas Eve at First Congregational
First Congregational Church of Dundee will celebrate Christmas Eve with three evening services at 7, 9 and 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24. The Christmas messages will be delivered by the Rev. Aaron James, Senior Pastor. Children and adults will enjoy a family friendly service at 7 p.m. with readings and carols sung by all. Traditional candlelight services will be held at 9 and 11 p.m. The church is at 900 South Eighth Street (Route 31 and Angle Tarn), West Dundee. Bartlett: Living Nativity set at World Outreach
Bring your family and friends to the Annual Drive-Thru Living Nativity. Hosted by Faith World Outreach Church at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday Dec. 21 and 22 Enjoy hot cider, homemade cookies as you drive through scene by scene and watch the Nativity story come to life. Elgin: Musical cantata at Northwest Bible Baptist
“Born to Die” is the title of the Christmas Cantata to be presented by the adult and junior choirs of the Northwest Bible Baptist Church of Elgin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23 at the church, 9N889 Nesler Road, Elgin. The musical relates the true meaning of Christmas, and the Christian belief in the reason Jesus came, through the story of a modern-day prodigal teenage son and his parents’ unwavering love for him. St. Charles: Hosanna! sets Christmas service times
Hosanna! Lutheran Church invites the community to join us at one of four Christmas Eve worship services on Monday, Dec. 24: 3 p.m. — Children’s Service (great for families with young children); 5 p.m. — Contemporary Music Service; 9 and 11 p.m. Traditional Music Service. The Christmas Eve theme is “The Christmas Message of Hope.” On Tuesday, Dec. 25 there will be a Christmas Day service at 5:30 p.m. only and the theme will be “Our Savior Is Born.” Holy Communion will be celebrated at all five services, handheld candles will be part of Christmas Eve worship at 5, 9 and 11. St. Charles: Spaghetti set Sunday after Christmas
On Sunday, Dec. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. Two Guys and Free Spaghetti will provide a homemade spaghetti and meatballs dinner with beverage, salad, garlic bread and homemade dessert to anyone who attends the monthly event held at St. Charles Episcopal Church, 994 N. 5th Avenue, (Route 25) in St. Charles.
